The right to the protection of health is a governing principle of social and economical
politics as stated in article 43 of the 1978 Spanish Constitution, which establishes the
constitutional rights.

The right to the protection of health is a governing principle of social and economical
politics as stated in article 43 of the 1978 Spanish Constitution, which establishes the
constitutional rights.
Besides, this right to health is established in other European legal rules as well as in
the national, autonomic and local regimes, thus ruling all the necessary actions to carry it
out, guaranteeing complete attendance and health fairness, both of them main principles of
Spanish health system, and which are also the main topics of this research work, whose
main aim will be to analyse health protection in any town or to any group of people, under
two essential premises: sex variable and nationality, that is, the foreign characteristic of
this group of people, linking the health status of women regarding men, and checking how
immigration influences the process.
This sex-gender variable represents an important factor to be taken into account when
studying both health and social welfare levels, which not so long ago went unnoticed,
giving rise to women invisibility from a healthy perspective, subject which will be dealt in
this research from a professional nursing point of view, as well as its hospital action.
However, we must also take into account the conditions that foreign people present
or suffer in our country, due to the migratory process and/or to the sociocultural adaptation
they have to bear, and whose influence is seen in their health level or illness, especially
between women.
