El mito de Greta Garbo en la literatura española e hispanoamericana

por PORTELA LOPA, Antonio

Libro
ISBN: 9788490124437

This thesis analyses the literary impact of the myth of Greta Garbo from a panHispanic perspective. As a starting point, the constitution of film and cinematographic myth in literature is explained, and subsequently different models are applied based on film and literary theories that primarily address reception. Since we are dealing with an inter-semiotic reality, convergences are drawn among the different codes describing the myth. To do so, a rich corpus of texts has been studied (novels, stories, poems, microstories, hybrids) from the point of view of the aesthetics of reception, semiology, narratology, theory of polysystems and iconology. Also explored is the notion of literary and film genre. It was found that myth, especially when emerging from mass culture, requires a comparative, cross-sectional and interdisciplinary approach involving different discourse and arts. Furthermore, the general validity of myth is demonstrated in both Spanish and Latin American contemporary literature.
