por FERNÁNDEZ HERNÁNDEZ, Óscar

Libro
ISBN: 9788490125342

Deformities of the first ray of the foot are among the most common in the foot and, among these, the most common is the hallux valgus. The prevalence of hallux valgus has a direct relationship with age and its etiology is multifactorial. Although the treatment of hallux valgus is initially conservative, it is quite often surgical. The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of the surgical treatment of hallux valgus in the patients quality of life and to analyze the epidemiology of the disease in our health area, in a particularly aged demographic region: the west of Castilla y Leon. The clinical results of the surgical treatment of hallux valgus at one--‐year follow--‐up provide a 95.3% of satisfied patients, with statistically significant improvements in the SF--‐12, AOFAS, MOXFQ and LLFI questionnaires. The evaluated radiographic angles were corrected at three months postoperatively and the correction remains at one year follow--‐up. The characteristics of the patients with hallux valgus in the health area of Leon are comparable to those of patients with the same pathology in the scientific literature.
