En defensa de los sagrados intereses : Historia religiosa de la diócesis de Zamora durante la restauración (1875-1914)

This thesis is a methodological proposal of religious history that is established on the study of the diocese of Zamora during the restoration of the monarchy (1875-1914). According to the program of religious history, whose intuitions are developed in the introductory chapter, along these pages, large amplitude is given to the analysis of the institutional, the doctrinal and the sociological. All these dimensions are discussed taking into account the specificity of religion in the contemporary history, which gives this study an interdisciplinary character that also builds on a wide exploitation of local files. In the first part of the thesis there is a radiograph of Spain plotted, the Church and the society that welcomes the arrival of the Restoration [chapter I] and a presentation made of the Diocese of Zamora in the XIX century [chapter II]. The second part is devoted to the ecclesiastical hierarchy. It exposes biographies of the prelates who occupied the episcopal seat [chapter III], the message being spoken as leaders of the Catholic community [chapter IV], the exercise of the government as the head of the diocese [chapter V] and institutional relationships [chapter VI]. In the third part, a presentation of the life of the faithful is made in the varied activities of its agents: secular clergy and diocesan seminary [chapter VII], the religious [chapter VIII], and the lay in its many associations and various modes of presence [chapter IX and X]. The last chapter is scrutinizing the faith and the morals of the Zamoran society and growth of non-Catholic religious communities [chapter XI]. Finally, conclusions are presented, the annex documentary is presented, the catalog of accredited sources and a bibliographic cast that formed the basis for the development of this research.
